The Palm Springs Unified School District has jurisdiction over this region. Students attend facilities like Sunny Sands Elementary School, James Workman Middle School, and Mt. San Jacinto High School. There are also several private institutions like Desert Chapel Christian, King’s Schools of the Desert, and Temple Isaiah’s Early Childhood Center.
Cathedral City has ten parks and the closest ones to Upper Outpost are Panorama Park, Cathedral City Soccer Park, and Century Park. To the east within a few minutes is the Cimarron Golf Resort which offers championship golf courses, tournaments, and events.

Cathedral City is the second largest in the Coachella Valley. It was created in 1925 as a housing subdivision and then finally incorporated in 1981. Cathedral City hosts a Mexican Independence Day festival every September along with an event called El Grito de Dolores.
